Fourteen students in grades first through third participated in the health-care career exploration camp held after school at the Greene County Career Academy on Monday, February 6th.
Becky Wolf and Shelby Cooklin from Greene County Public Health facilitated several activities for the youth. Students got to hear their own heart beats, use a pulse oxygen meter, test their hand washing skills, and learn disinfecting strategies. February is National Heart Association Month, and students learned several pieces of important information to help improve their lifestyle. They discussed ways to keep moving, what to eat, and how to reduce stress.
These students were very interested in the curriculum and excited to learn about health care. We look forward to the fourth through eighth grade career exploration camp at the end of the month.
