Greene County High School students have been using the Virtual Reality (VR) headsets provided by the Greene County Community Foundation to build math skills and enhance their learning experience. Through the Prisms VR software, students are placed in real-world situations where they are required to use math to determine how to solve problems. For instance, in Mr. Staudacher’s classroom, students used exponential growth patterns to help them determine when a hospital would reach capacity based on the rate of a virus spreading through large masses of people. Ms. Vargas’ class recently used Prisms to help determine how to calculate geometric slides, rotations, and flips.
This has been an amazing way for students to not only learn the curriculum being taught to them in class, but also help with engagement and provide real-world examples of how math is used in everyday life. Thank you to the Greene County Community Foundation for providing our students such a wonderful learning enhancement resource!
