David Geiger with "The Big Show" did a live broadcast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from the Greene County Career Academy on Friday, January 19th. The focus was "Farming for the Future" and sharing more about the Career Academy with the WHO listeners.
Iowa Beef Council member Mike Holden and Brian Waddingham from the Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers helped organize this visit. Guests who were interviewed include Iowa Central's President Dr. Jesse Ulrich, Greene County Superintendent Brett Abbotts, Home State Bank's Mike Richards, Mechanical Engineer Chris Deal, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and Iowa Beef Council Board Member Mike Anderson, plus others.
One of the goals for this visit was to promote healthy living using lean cuts of beef. Moo Meat donated tri-tip roasts which Chef D and the culinary/hospitality Career Academy students prepped the day before the visit. On Friday, Chef D and her students assembled the roast beef melts using smoked provolone cheese, carmelized onions, and horseradish aioli and then served them hot off the grill using healthy 12-grain bread. They also made delicious homemade potato salad for our guests. Chef D and her students served the meal, and it was so good!
At 1 p.m., our guests took a tour of the Greene County Career Academy and High School. We appreciated everyone coming to the Career Academy for this visit. We enjoyed talking to them about the Career Academy and the great relationships we have with all of these groups,
