Culinary Career Pathway

During the month of January, the Greene County Extension Office and Greene County Career Academy featured the Culinary Career Pathway. Youth were led by Julie Kennedy, high school culinary teacher, in two different classes. The first class was for youth in grades 1-3 and a second class was for youth in grades 4-8.

In the first class, the younger youth learned about MyPlate, how to make a healthy after- school snack, knife skills, hand washing, the difference between an herb and a spice, and about food presentation. The older group touched on the same skills the younger group did but also were able to learn how to make grilled cheese on the griddle, stir fry, pesto, and a dipping oil.

This is always a fan favorite that youth look forward to,  and they leave with a full stomach!
