Students in the Greene County Career Academy Health Care Pathway got to hear from Lauren Carlson and Sydney Schiltz today in Jill Wanninger's Nurse Aide class. Lauren and Sydney went through the health-care program when they were in high school. After they graduated in 2018 from Greene County High School, they attended Iowa Central Community College to earn their LPN degrees and then went on to earn their Bachelors of Science Degrees. Lauren is a nurse at Mary Greeley and Sydney works full-time at our hospital and PRN as a traveling nurse. Lauren and Sydney talked about the many different types of nursing including bedside, clinical, legal claims, working from home, home-health care, nurse recruiting just to name a few. Both nurses encouraged our students to apply for nursing school early and to apply for all scholarships. Lauren and Sydney really liked attending Iowa Central because the teachers were so helpful, and they prepared them to be successful nurses. They also like all of the free and fun activities available to students on campus. Thank you to Lauren and Sydney for coming to visit with our health care students this morning!
