COMPUTER SCIENCE CAREER EXPLORATION CAMP HELD ON DECEMBER 5TH

On Monday, December 5th, Greene County Extension and the Greene County Career Academy continued their segment of career exploration for youth. This month's feature is computer science.

The group of 14 first through third graders began their camp playing a game of "Programmer Says". They then continued onto the CAD room to learn about the different features in this room and to explore four different types of robots. They first played "kit bot" where they learned the basics of coding by coding each other. Next, they had a chance to practice their skills with Bee-Bots and have Hexbug races. Finally, the youth got to try out the Dash and Dot robots using Blockly. The youth got to try to code these robots to do different skills, behaviors, and tasks. All of the students had a lot of fun and are excited to continue to learn more about coding and robotics.

The next computer science career camp is on Monday, December 19th, for students in fourth through eighth grades. Please call ISU Extension at 515.386.2138 if you would like to sign your child up for this camp.
