On Thursday, September 21, a group of Greene County youth participated in the Culinary Career Exploration Camp. During this class, they had the opportunity to learn from Chef Julie Kennedy about proper nutrition, make healthy snacks, the difference between a chef vs. a cook, herbs vs. spices, fresh vs. dried herbs and spices, what makes a pizza, and basic knife skills. They made three different kinds of healthy pizza including pizza crackers, fruit pizza, and veggie pizza.
These youth had a blast in the kitchen Thursday night, so much fun that one student said "This is the best culinary class I have ever taken!"
The October Career Exploratory Camps will focus on Computer Science. There are still a few spots left, so do not forget to sign up by calling ISU Extension's Samantha Hardaway at 515.386.2138.
